All the Chinese places I visited had the same items on the breakfast and lunch menus. Nothing all the simple/bland to ease your stomach into the day, not even plain rice! (And they are not big on bread in China, so no toast, ever.) I usually had a boiled egg and rice soup (2 cups of rice in what appeared to be 5 gallons of water)and some fruit. That country is crying out for a Denny's or IHop!!
The most popular Italian breakfast is cornetto (croissant) e cappuccino! Not mine though, I have a double caffè macchiato (made with Giannina coffee pot!) and a couple of cookies, never more than three though.
