notes (but mostly photos) from the commute
It's fashion season in my city and I've seen plenty of off-duty models waltzing around.
I've also seen some great stuff on regular people, on my way to work each morning.
Here are some notables:
This outfit received much praise/criticism on the street today. I suppose it depends on what kind of attention you'd like to receive.
This lady looked lovely. I could never pull off that big dolman-sleeved tee shirt. She looked great.
Just look at this guy! Fabulous. I loved his scarf .
We pause, briefly, to admire my favorite car in the world...in front of the building where Katie Holmes lives.
We don't do a lot of bright colors. Love both of these looks and they are quite different.

It was the finest black cardigan in the world. Beautiful, especially under long blond hair.
I don't mind a 6-series BMW either, for the record.

A pretty skirt, worn well. I cannot abide by the flip flop. The city is too dirty.
Gorgeous dress.
It's going to rain...hence the plastic tortoise-shell flats. Very pretty.
As I got further downtown I saw more and more little sleeveless dresses. Very polished looking without being too bare for an office.
Watch out for the CitiBikes. Though slow, they are heavy and could do some damage if they hit you.

Once in my neighborhood this look sort of becomes the men's uniform. I wish his shoes were a bit heavier but he looks pretty swell.

See? Little dress.

School is in session so I always pass bunches of little kids which I really enjoy.
Kids are usually more colorful than their parents.

Leggings? Tights? Sometimes I can't stand around long enough to figure stuff out.
A great little dress and gold shoes. I love gold shoes! (6.5)
An AMAZING little dress.

I see them every day too. I like dad's shorts.
I don't think it's easy but some guys can pull off the pink pants. Wait. That didn't come out right.
This is a great combo for late summer...long skirt, cool top, and some denim for the air conditioning.
Nice sandals too. And a good bag! High marks from me, but we are nearly at work.
This is the last lady I see each day before I get to the coffee shop. She wears a lot of boxy linen stuff and always looks cool and well put together. And she's kind of my size and shape. I think I need to start saying good morning to her - though no one does that here. I just feel like I know her - sort of.
And me? What was I wearing?
My little black Uniform Project dress over a long straight black skirt with my neutral ankle boots (Poppy calls them my POP OF COLOR) and a canvas tote. I have a ponytail (did I mention it's 90 degrees here?) and am having my hair cut on Tuesday.
And, kids, tomorrow is Friday.

I think I'd be nervous about wearing even open-toed shoes in the Big City. Just too much filth.
by the way, we got 4 inches of rain in an hour this evening! I'm thinking about building an ark.
Very enjoyable, love your pics and your commentary!
I suppose it's just nice to take a little morning walk in NYC with someone telling me about the dos and don'ts of everyday-fashion there, which I usually don't care about at all, but suddenly find terribly interesting when you tell me about it. Thank you!
Also, weather here in Germany: cold and/or rainy. Booh!

funny about the pink pants.
I do adore how people dress in cities. We're such slobs and so boring in the country.
