AT 850 PM ... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR TUVALU... AND MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH.
SMALL HAIL... AND WINDS UP TO 40 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM. IN ADDITION... VERY HEAVY RAIN... *WITH RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO 1.5 INCHES AN HOUR... IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. THIS COULD CAUSE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS... AND MINOR FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.
LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURES NUMBER ONE KILLERS. REMEMBER... IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER... YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. MOVE TO SAFE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.
It isn't the weather warning that bothers me, it is the familiar tone implied...If *I* can hear thunder *I* am close enough to be struck by lightning? Why admonish me, weather service?
*all elipses are theirs

I know, it's got nothing to do wiht the storm or your fault being in a lightning range.
That, my dear, is entirely YOUR FAULT.
They meant the dummies that think "They can't me talking about ME. I'm in the middle of a game of golf"
We have t-storm forecasted for tonight. I hope it doesn't wreck my daughter's birthday, which is tomorrow.
