passing the time
It was tough, but Middle dragged himself away from the bear cam to take a trip to Michael's in an effort to distract me from perseverating on Youngest's trip.

If you haven't seen the bear-cam, now quite famous, I'd suggest you tune in. It is remarkably addictive.
So. Michael's. I'm not sure I can accurately describe what happens to us during a trip to Michael's. We go a couple of times a year and it never fails. It renders us speechless, hysterically laughing, weak in knees and, I guess, stupefied. Overwhelmed? Incredulous?
We gave this Rob Sheridan print to Middle a couple of years ago and he has always intended to have it framed in the most ornate frame he could get his hands on.
Being Middle, he knew exactly what he wanted.
With that accomplished, we had a little look around...to induce the aforementioned hilarity.
We were successful.
We eyed a soap making kit and I had visions of being like Suse, fashioning indescribably creamy soaps. But not with the little kit...
Go big or go home, Mom.
I'm not particularly crafty but I'm pretty sure I could make this bird without any supplies from the craft super-store.

Middle was fond of this wreath and argued for it in our downstairs bathroom.

Then we saw the queen wearing it on her head at the Olympics!
Foam hand?

Check.

In my day, children fashioned dioramas from shoe boxes and glue and sand.
This "SceneA+Rama" feels like cheating.
Let's buy five of these. Whoever makes a more accurate depiction of the DeathStar 2 wins.
And why did it have such a lame name...DeathStar 2?
He appreciated this castle birdhouse.
The workmanship!

And taught me that the A10 can shoot 3000 bullets a minute.

Not that I am comfortable with that knowledge.
Finally, he carefully explained the merits of rubber stamps.

You see, this one, on the left, can be used a number of times, in many situations.
Not true for the stamp on the right. I would not recommend the stamp on the right.
Poncy.
Is anyone around? Can anyone see me? I'm going in.
And, with that, he was gone.

You could have at LEAST gotten some fun fur. I have the crochet hooks AND the knitting needles to make a funky scarf.
jbhat
And yes, that diarama thing is totally cheating. If a student handed that in to me, I'd dock them points for being lazy.
