a meme I took from Joke

- and Poppy has done it too.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper. Craft paper, actually, in brown or white, off the giant rolls in my attic. This year with red and white bakery string.

2. Real tree or artificial?
Real. I am compelled to buy a real tree from a church sale or the guy on the corner.

3. When do you put up the tree?
The weekend after Middle's birthday.

4. When do you take the tree down?
The day the kids go back to school.

5. Do you like eggnog?
I like REAL eggnog. I don't like the stuff in cartons from the supermarket.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
I believe that would be the Barbie Dreamhouse. The cardboard one.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?
We do. It was my grandmother's and is also cardboard.

8. Hardest person to buy for?
K. He likes toys, and following an iPhone for his birthday has proved difficult.

9. Easiest person to buy for?
This year? My kids. They knew exactly what they wanted, which is why Middle is getting a Blackhawk helicopter.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
The embellished holiday sweater from my FIL. At least it was black.

11. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail. Done. Not posted.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
It's A Wonderful Life. Because it IS.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Early November. We made the bulk of our gifts this year, though, and started in February.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Not that I recall, unless giving one to a thrift shop counts.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
My mother's red Jello cookies.

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Two strands of clear, one strand of blue.

17. Favorite Christmas song?
Silent Night gets me every time.

18. Travel for Christmas or stay home?
By travel, do you mean Tahiti? Then home, but we visit several places to celebrate with family.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers?
Is 'reindeers' incorrect? If pressed I think I could name them all. And I include Rudolph.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
A star. A red fabric star with tinsel streaming from it.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Presents Christmas Eve with K's family, morning with ours.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer on the radio.

23. What I love most about Christmas?
Giving. Because I'm all about The Giving. And sometimes The Eating.

Ohhhh, big giant rolls of craft paper! Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things!!
I did the homemade eggnog once. Now I'm paranoid about food-borne illness.

That would be Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, on Comet and Cupid and Donner and Vixen... and do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose, and if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows...

Sorry, got carried away here.

I adored my Barbie dreamhouse.

I was/am just about to write a post lamenting my lack of baker's string...and you've got some! Lucky girl. I kind of improvised but it's not the same. :)

This is fun, I might do it, too.

As I was reading through your answers I was answering in my head for myself, as I often do with these things. I was so surprised when I read your answer for number 6, because that was my answer too. Did yours have the little plastic elevator you could operate by pulling the string? And the very groovy furniture pictures on the cardboard walls? I got mine for my sixth Christmas and it still stands out as the best. I LOVED THAT THING!
