in the car, on the way home from school

The players: BB, Middle, Youngest (as if you couldn't have figured it out)

BB: Hey honey, how was school today?

Youngest: Not so great, I have a vocab project, an ELA project and a science project all due this week.

BB: Uh, sounds like you are a little overworked. Give yourself a break...

Y: Well, I did get back my social studies test and I got a 93...

BB: (glancing in an almost sinister way at Middle who is not the most motivated student) what's up at your school today? anyone get arrested? (there have been a string)

Middle: Actually, I got a global test back and I got a 94 on it.

BB: (impressed and shocked) Wow, that's pretty damn good.

Y: Oh! and I also got a 98 on my math quiz today!

BB: (looks to her right again) Your turn.

M: I got some good grade on a science thing...I can't remember...

BB: Above a C? Not bad.

Y: I got picked to do a speech in Italian class!

M: Oh! I almost forgot! I scored a touchdown in gym!

BB: (must maintain focus on driving, but is clearly stunned as Middle is a 102 pound weakling)

M: I know, hard to believe, but I told the guys that I would fake right and move left and cut behind and that they should pass me the ball and it worked!

BB: Did you do a little dance?

M: I got to throw the ball down real hard...

Y
: I SAVED TWO ORPHANS FROM A BURNING BUILDING, in third period.

M: (mournfully lowers his forehead onto the dashboard) You win.

So can you tell me your secret... How do you get your kids to tell you about their day at school, when will this start to happen? All I get is a " I don't remember"

Love that Youngest. Doesn't Middle know by now, the youngest always wins. Your kids, and your posts are hilarious.

I look forward to my little tribe being witty teens, and I know it's coming 'cause Daddy is hilarious (sometimes). In the meantime, I really enjoy the glimpse you give us of your boys.

You are soooo lucky that they talk to you that way...you should be very proud. Oh - I also feel a bit sorry for Middle. It's hard to keep up with overachievers!

A good friend of mine has a four year old in preschool...(I'm not being sac-religious when I say this OK) anyway, Jack told Anna (mom) "I'm having a problem with someone as school...Anna said, "I'll pray about it and I'll talk to the teacher"...a few weeks went by and Anna said to son Jack..."did Jesus answer your prayers about the problem at school?"... and Jack replied..."yes but He took His sweet ass time doing it!!!!!!!"

Kids say the darndest things!!
I laughed til I cried.

That's a lot of hero action in one period. I would have expected at least two. That youngest is fast! It's great that middle knows when he's beat though. :)
