12 seems so young, 7th grade sounds so old

Youngest has taught himself to swing...

swing 9

it has taken him over a year -

swing 10

All that time with one of us trying to describe the push of the feet.

swing 11

The pull of the legs...

swing 12

We each got frustrated trying to teach him something that seems so instinctive -

swing 13

He just wasn't feeling it.

swing 14

And then, yesterday...

swing 15

it all came together - in his body and mind.

swing 16

He flies.

swing 17

And I am happyproudsadafraidexcited.

swing 18

Harrison can't swing - just started showing an interest in learning this late summer. Glad to know he's not alone in this department.

Oh! Duuuuuude! I know how you feel. I thought the boy (my boy, not yours) would never learn to swing. Or swim. Or ride a bike. And yet, with lots and lots and lots of hard work and frustration, he has.

Maybe I should buy him a skateboard next? And then get myself some really good anti-anxiety meds?

P.S. Go Youngest go!

Something about the creak of a swings' ropes bring back memories - I had a tire swing that would fly me to the moon....

How splendid for Youngest.

I just read the post below- does Youngest swinging mean he is feeling better? I really hope so.

The pictures are amazing- what camera do you use?

Is that an army hat he is wearing? My Noodle Boy wears his in the pool and shower-so I'm thinking-shame we are not neighbors- these two would be friends and I would like that very much.

Hope the weekend is a good one.

Oh, that is huge. HUGE!

I remember swinging as high as possible and then JUMPING! I loved it, and now it makes me cringe.

What a sweet boy!

Dear Blackbird,
I found you through Corey. Your poetic words and etherial pictures really hit home today. There is something in my life I've been working hard on, but it just seems to elude me. Much of life we work on our dreams and it seems like were never going to get there but, If we're willing to keep practicing like your son, have great teachers, and most important we don't give up, one day were bound to turn a corner and bump into our hearts desire. I needed the encouragement today more than you know. Thank you
