what we've been up to

Yesterday, late in the afternoon, I asked K to take me for a walk.
It was low tide and we drove to Skaket Beach, parked the car, took nothing with us and walked to the end of the earth to where the water met the sand. Through at least a dozen warm tide-pools, past other silent couples we walked and walked and walked. It was amazing and I was amazed to be physically able to do it.

(Not low tide, but beautiful nonetheless.)

Isn't this a beautiful little cove? We picked out a house (for sale) not half a mile from it.

We went thrifting - I thought this camel lamp was perfect for Middle.

We had blackberry pie and seafood pie from Marion's.
Call ahead in the summer, people, but get thee to Marion's.

But the best dinner? Mac's, down in Wellfleet (the town where my heart is).

Wellfleet oysters, briny and light and sososo good, and THEN, as recommended by my sweet pal DW, the Baked Mini Hand Grenades which we neverinamillionyears would order but which were astoundingly delicious!

Today we'll pack up and go home.
I'll work full-time next week.
The weather has turned and it's time for shoes and socks and I couldn't be happier.
We see the surgeon on Tuesday.

I covet Middle's lamp. But to fit it into my house I would have to, as my husband pointed out yesterday, get rid of somethings to make room.

::sigh::

Best of luck with your commute and full time back at work!

Ever sit on the beach on a perfectly still and quiet day, when the water licks the shore and you hear the short sizzle sound of water and sand mixing? Its like the sound you hear, if you really listen, when you slowly add sugar to your coffee. God I miss that sound...and smell!

So just what are Baked Mini Hand Grenades?

That looks like it was the perfect recharge before heading back into the world of work.
