school clothes

I cannot think about September without thinking about school clothes.
Each year, in August, my mom and I made a pilgrimage to the town next to where I live now for a shopping excursion. We'd shop, buy a pile of wonderful things, have lunch, and drive home.
I'd climb into the back seat going through the bags of treasures, laying out outfits and re-discovering great finds. It was one of my favorite days of the year. I liked it even more than my birthday.
Most years I think of one or two things I'd like to have for September. I began my present job in September and had a wonderful time buying work clothes. Last year, I bought my coat.
This year, I've bought three things "for school."

I bought these great boots at the end of May, actually.
They've been waiting patiently next to my dresser for fall.

In a huge departure from my usual black, I got this chambray dress from Uniqlo.
I am imagining it with tights and boots or a scarf and belt or with this -

ultralight down vest.
The vest will work well with lots of things and be weightless and slim under my trench. i'm planning on wearing it all the time.

We're leaving town.
I'll be back at work on the 8th.
I'm looking forward to the new year.

I ADORE THOSE BOOTS!

Ahem.

I used to have a denim dress similar to that one. I used to wear it with hot pink tights and hit pink high-tops. Yeah, I used to be cool.

Oh! Have such a good time!
Your new duds are delicious.
I spent hella $$ (for me) on some boots yesterday from bed/stu. Will try to get photos onto the blog soon.

Chambray is fine for now, I know the mission to get you out of the total black will lead somewhere, someday.
Have fun, relax, smooch!

Oh honey when you said you couldn't type i assumed you weren't blogging! For some reason your blogfeed isn't showing up in my blogroll.

Have a wonderful time out of town, rest your poor battered wrist and body and i will go and catch up on your posts (and no doubt see some gory photos?) and see if i can fix the feed thing.

I miss you too! xxx
