Men of Toast

The problem was two-fold.

Untitled

James and Vance (at the beach, in the fog) had seen Timmy with the bag.

  Untitled

And Timmy did not deny having had the bag.

  Untitled

But Enright wanted the bag and no one knew where it was.

  Untitled

Smithfield had malaria and was, therefore, useless.

  Untitled

And, in fact, Enright was not at all well either.

  Untitled

Lawrence was the only one who could help them.

 He refused.

Is it OK if I long for the bag, too?

If yes, do I have to go do it on a foggy beach, or can I stay here and drink coffee while I long? After all, think of the multitasking possibilities. I could be longing for the bag while I clean the kitchen.

I promise to look soulfully off into distance like Garbo at the end of Queen Christina.

YESSSSS!!!
Were Enright and Smithfield bitten by mosquitoes on vacation? They don't look like they're in a tropical climate.

No wonder they are ill. They look like they are living in squalor. I don't think that stove has ever been lit.
I think I could happily tend to Smithfield to bring him back to good health. And I think it's fairly well established I normally don't tend to ill people.
