I clicked over to weather.com as people are talking about a Nor'Easter.
Aside from realizing the potential for additional weather havoc, I read this interesting notice:

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION (CDC):

IN THE WAKE OF SANDY... IT IS IMPORTANT FOR CITIZENS TO REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND HEALTH AND THAT OF YOUR FAMILY:

* DRINK CLEAN... SAFE WATER AND EAT SAFE... UNCONTAMINATED FOOD
* KEEP GENERATORS OUTSIDE AT LEAST 25 FT FROM DOORS... WINDOWS AND VENTS
* DO NOT GRILL INSIDE YOUR HOME... THE FUMES CAN KILL
* NEVER TOUCH A DOWNED POWER LINE OR ANYTHING TOUCHING ONE
* USE 1 CUP OF BLEACH FOR EACH GALLON OF WATER TO REMOVE MOLD
* NEVER MIX BLEACH AND AMMONIA... THE FUMES CAN KILL
* WASHING YOUR HANDS PREVENTS ILLNESS
* SEEK HELP IF HAVING TROUBLE COPING

I do wish I had read that last one sometime last Friday.

You have never been out of my thoughts and yet I have only just come and caught up (10 posts!). I am so so pleased you guys are OK. I always wonder about these things (like the Brisbane floods here at the beginning of the year and the Black Saturday bushfires last) that the true horror and hardship is the aftermath - the cleaning up, the finding a new normalcy. All those people whose houses are gone, who have lost loved ones. It's just so so hard to get your head around. It's like the ultimate reminder to us that we really are infinitesimal specks.
