it's been a while since I've done one of these

The Evolutionary Revolutionary gave me an award. An Honest Scrap Award...I thank her.

Scrap means left over, fragments, discarded material. Many times truth and honesty are discarded material, considered fragments and left over. People like us need to tell it like it is, and let the scraps fall where they will.

This is how it works:

1. Thank the person who gave the award and list their blog and link it.
2. Share "10 Honest Things" about yourself.
3. Present this award to 7 others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.
4. Tell those 7 people they've been awarded Honest Scrap and inform them of these guidelines in receiving the award.

I have no problem with numbers one through three - beyond that? Well, I can't promise I can email 7 people and inform them....

So - "10 Honest Things" about me:

1. I'm feeling a little fat right now. Yeah, I'm a skinny person, but I feel a little bloated. Or something. Could be cyclical.

2. I could build a wardrobe with $50 or $200 or $2000 or $20,000. And I'd love to prove it.

3. I am, we are, currently bringing our lunches to work and saving about eighty bucks a week. It's a little tight over here but we are doing okay.

4. What with my new Wellies and all, I'm hoping for rain. Actually, I'm hoping for cold windy rain - it's way too temperate here.

5. The SweeTarts in the box are better than the ones in the rolls. Have I mentioned that?

6. Sometimes I have to pick my nose. It's rare but it happens.

7. I've never really discussed that with anyone.

8. I am lobbying for K to use some Amex points to buy us a television as our Christmas present to ourselves.

9. Today I am having lunch with the Buxoms!

10. I love each boy in my house for different reasons and in different ways and the variations never cease to amaze me.

Now, seven bloggers that I find "find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have "encouraged" me?
Okay, well, it's been an awfully long time since someone "encouraged" me, not that I've been seeking encouragement. In fact, I'm not sure anyone ever encouraged me, besides my brother B who practically made me write a blog. Unless we mean encouraged me about "life?" In that case, my readers have been very encouraging. Okay so, bloggers I admire? How about that? How about ten of them? That should do.

1. Loretta. Always honest, always lovely.
2. NieNie. Inspirational without being cloying.
3. Journey Mama, whose journey inspires me all the time.
4. Knitters Knitters. A Great Mom. And a pretty amazing knitter too.
5. My pal Poppy. Erudite. Tasteful. Hysterical.
6. McSweeney's. Not a blogger, always a great read. Always.
7. The Sartorialist. Someday, HE WILL SEE ME.
8. Paola. That's right. BLOGLESS. Blogless and encouraging and deserves an award.
9. Crazy Mom. A new one. Remember new bloggers? You should always go visit new bloggers.
10. Alice. Alice makes it her business to BE a good blogger, to encourage bloggers ALL THE TIME and to leave thoughtful, insightful comments.

Cool?
Cool.

I am way over speechless and/or breathless.
What am I doing amidst these adorable, clever, sassy, fun people?
And, I DON'T HAVE A BLOG!
Thank you sweet Bb.
YES, one day The Sartorialist will see you, I'm sure.
Have FUN with Poppy.
Paola

PS Wait till I tell Fabio about my award, today is his birthday, he'll LOVE this!
Yay! You played along and didn't even have too. Good honest list. LOVE, as always!

I'm touched by your generous words but it is nothing compared to the amazing amount of encouragement and support that you have always given me from the moment that I started blogging. I was so lucky.

Letter to K:
The 42" flatscreen is the best thing I've bought myself in years - except for the large bottle of coffee flavored Bailey's Irish cream, MAYBE.
With my crappy eyesight I always thought high def would be a waste of money for me but I was terribly mistaken. Everything is SOOOO crisp and clear, even with my low def eyes! The new Star Trek dvd was AMAZING! Totally cool. I've been re-watching all of my favorite dvds. I'm a special effects whore I admit. Even that nicholas cage movie, Knowing, was pretty good(UGH!)I gotta admit that some of the chick-flick movies that I like - re: own - seem chick-flickier.
I paired it up with a new home theater system and the sounds are incredible. Across The Universe I'm sure has become my neghibor's favorite and, nobody has complained yet!
I highly recomend getting yourselves one of these. I did a bit of research and it seems the LG brand is a bit less power hungry. They all use more wattage than an older tube tv, but it's so worth it. By the way, did you know you can hook some of them up and use them as a computer monitor? PC Scrable is even better on a 42 inch screen. Try it, you'll like it!
One last note...the Victoria's Secret adds really are worth watching now.

I love Scot's comment. Funny. We have a 42 inch flat screen with a DVR, and I agree, they are worth every penny. Get LCD, not plasma, so that you won't have glare.

I am glad you won an award. Well deserved, well deserved. Your blog is my very favorite.

My sister across the water.

I am humbled. I always think of your "oh's" as my barometer of whether I hit the mark.

Happy T!
