resume
Sometime around 4:30 yesterday evening I was offered and accepted a position with someone I worked with a long time ago and we are both looking forward to working together again.
It took many phone calls and emails and lots of thinking and I'm very excited.
My new boss and I ironed out the final details while he was on his way to the airport. We discussed vacation time, the insurance package and I made a feeble (and joking) attempt at a company car.
Toward the end of the conversation he asked me if I had a resume. I told him I don't - I have been interviewed by people who have read a letter of introduction I've written that describes my previous experience and I asked him who he wanted to show it to.
He said I should write one up so that he can write the announcement.
I savored that sentence and let it sink in for a few hours, and then I chatted with Middle and K about what I would write.
We think he should announce that I've been folding laundry for 15 years and I'm pretty good at it. Also, I cook a mean bowl of chili.
I start on September 29th.

I raise my big glass of wine in your honor, and look forward to future posts describing this exciting next phase. Onward and conquer!!
I have every confidence you will.
And now you get to wear that great dress!
I am excited for you and your new beginnings.
Something tells me your discretion won't let us know anything about your new workplace, but i wish you every success.
xx
Congratulations!!! :)
Wow. That took a lot of energy. Going back to the couch now....
I've been sending resumes out with nary a phone call, so send some of that fortune my way!
(Which are only offered in exceptional circumstances)
Ignore the advice about cleaning the house and focus on the shoes.
p.s. you write a pretty mean blog too.
It's extra exciting that your new position is worthy of a written announcement.
Wishing you every success, and a company car in your future!
Cheers~

So what is it you do, anyhow?

The start of a renewed chapter in your life, like a book left semi-read.
Savour your last weeks of freedom and reduced income - There will be rewards, even if it means a little less blogging time.
We'll miss your frequent and pithy observations, but know you'll have new stories to tell too.
Yay!!!!
Good luck with the resume! Mine's 15 years old. Ick.
I also look forward to posts from this new era. Good for you.
Second, I want to know what you will wear on your first day of work.
Heady stuff, bb. Good for you!

But truly, congratulations. Very happy news and I'll be excited to read how this new chapter of your life begins.
Your gonna WOW 'em!
Congrats.
Toasting you and all the best.
I Wish you every success in the world and then some. You will be fabulous.
We'll all be there in spirit with you as you go through these big changes in your life. I'm sure you will get lots of support from the Blackbird Family Men.
Would it be selfish to say that I hope you'll continue to blog & post frequently?
(Not that I do it :-P )
You're inspiring. Congrats again!
Be sure to include on your resume, that you were CEO of domestic organization, supervising four subordinates. LOL!!!
If you were listening, you will realize your boss has given you your first assignment, write a resume. Ignore that at your peril.
Congrats bb.
Quick, more JCrew!
Best -
Susan
:)
I'm assuming you're not going to be a house mother for a fraternity then...because both chili cooking and laundry folding? Shoo-in!
Looking forward to your tales...
Well, I'm 57. I know I don't look it. But I am.
I'm also happy for you. But sad for me. I liked it a lot more thinking of you hard at work on your next post, keeping us all entertained and happy each day.
Thanks for that, by the way.
If you're half as great at that job as you are here in blogland, your boss will be thanking his lucky stars every day.
All the best...
I start TOMORROW, holy shit.
