resume

Sometime around 4:30 yesterday evening I was offered and accepted a position with someone I worked with a long time ago and we are both looking forward to working together again.
It took many phone calls and emails and lots of thinking and I'm very excited.
My new boss and I ironed out the final details while he was on his way to the airport. We discussed vacation time, the insurance package and I made a feeble (and joking) attempt at a company car.
Toward the end of the conversation he asked me if I had a resume. I told him I don't - I have been interviewed by people who have read a letter of introduction I've written that describes my previous experience and I asked him who he wanted to show it to.
He said I should write one up so that he can write the announcement.

I savored that sentence and let it sink in for a few hours, and then I chatted with Middle and K about what I would write.
We think he should announce that I've been folding laundry for 15 years and I'm pretty good at it. Also, I cook a mean bowl of chili.

I start on September 29th.

Bless you! And how great that you have a couple of weeks left before work so you can get your house in order before you start.

I've been sending resumes out with nary a phone call, so send some of that fortune my way!

Big hugs from me.
(Which are only offered in exceptional circumstances)

Ignore the advice about cleaning the house and focus on the shoes.

p.s. you write a pretty mean blog too.

The start of a renewed chapter in your life, like a book left semi-read.

Savour your last weeks of freedom and reduced income - There will be rewards, even if it means a little less blogging time.

We'll miss your frequent and pithy observations, but know you'll have new stories to tell too.

Yay!!!!

Very Excited for you BB! Big changes are so exciting. I thrive and focus more during these times, except when I'm insecure; then I become even more of a tornado. A tornado in an endearing way, if tornados were endearing...I get to pick up all the peices of stuff I left behind and it keeps me very busy and out of trouble.

Your gonna WOW 'em!

Congrats.

Hooray!! Congratulations and absolutely the best situation, though the job may be new, the boss isn't and that can make for a great transition. I think folding is fine, ironing sheets might be over the top.

Toasting you and all the best.

Be sure to include on your resume, that you were CEO of domestic organization, supervising four subordinates. LOL!!!

I think if you want to be taken seriously by your coworkers and not just considered to be the boss's pet, you will think up a reasonable resume.
If you were listening, you will realize your boss has given you your first assignment, write a resume. Ignore that at your peril.

Oh my. The next ExecuHot blogger. ;-)

Congratulations! Will you be wearing the beautiful new dress from TJ's on your first day? Don't you feel like sharpening pencils and writing your name in your finest penmanship on the front of your new binder? No wait - that's school...but doesn't it sort of feel the same? Here's to fresh starts and familiar bosses.

Best -
Susan

One day. I miss one day of your blog and suddenly you're employed and 56 people have left you a comment.

Well, I'm 57. I know I don't look it. But I am.

I'm also happy for you. But sad for me. I liked it a lot more thinking of you hard at work on your next post, keeping us all entertained and happy each day.

Thanks for that, by the way.

If you're half as great at that job as you are here in blogland, your boss will be thanking his lucky stars every day.

All the best...
