Today is Oldest's birthday.
A complicated man, Oldest wants his independence on his terms - this is a difficult matter...not for us, but for Oldest.
It's sort of like trying to roll a giant snowball, alone.
But he's nothing if not passionate about his goals and I have no doubt that he will reach them. It's hard, though, to find a birthday card with our sentiments which run toward: Happy Birthday Oldest, we hope you find what your way...
At 23 he remains a perfectly distilled version of himself, good and bad, and I admire his tenacity.
