Reader, where is the heart of your home?

This request came from Mrs. G. and, as she was kind enough to feature me yesterday, I was happy to oblige.

Our kitchen/dining room is command central.
Laundry waits to be retrieved, mail is sorted, my posts get written, the crossword puzzle is done, and sometimes, if you're lucky, you may run across some guacamole and chips, or even dinner.

This was shot over three hours, on a lock off camera, in the dining room.
Because that's the way we roll.
The entire family took turns playing Rock Band in the next room all day long.
Because that's the way we rock.

Go visit Mrs. G today and click on all the links to see the hearts of other homes!

I'm cracking up at how the beagle keeps wandering in and checking the kitchen floor. 'did anything fall? huh, huh, is there a scrap here, did you miss something"...sniff sniff sniff

Cool video.

There is something very compelleing about that slice of life. Makes me wish we owned a video camera.

I just watched it without any sound and it was so cool. Must listen later.

I loved your interview and some of those pics are my favorite. (laundry day especially...that would be a good print, bb.)

Oh my. I was prepared for you to do something amazingly clever, but not this. THIS far exceeded anything I would have expected. But OF COURSE the Blackbird family would film the room and then turn it into an amazing video.

Your kitchen and dining room look so comfortable and I have a bit of lust in my heart for your fridge.

What a fantastic idea.
Were you stretching your back at one point?

Very funny!! A perfect slice of life!!

And I am so pleased to see how many of us have dining tables that look like that! It does wonders to assuage my housewifely guilt!

Rock on, blackbirders!

OK - You have out-trumped all of us - what a fantastic idea....you rock Macbird!

Hah! I love this! Especially the child in the helmet...It's actually a lot like what you would see at our house, only the table never gets cleared - stuff just gets pushed aside. Until the realtor calls to show our house and we go into panic mode and shove it all in the oven.
THAT TOTALLY ROCKS!

and rolls!

KEEP BELIEVING

A day in the life of the bird family -- yay! I am jealous that your dining table gets cleared. Mine is like the other commenter's; stuff just gets pushed aside so we can all huddle at one end.

I also loved the beagle thing...at the end of the day and he is the last shot. That was very cool.

Fantastic. Is that a husband type cooking? Man, that's just not fair.
Aren't you the clever one?

And that looks to be one hard-working husband!
That was just AWESOME! It makes my silent vid tour look lame. I love the stop-action idea and will probably steal it and make a video to send to relatives, who will then think that I'm a freakin' genius!

Is that a black and white check tile floor? 'Cause black and white checks are my thing.

You guys can come over and play Rockband at our house anytime!

Most excellent. I totally want to do this everyday (in my house, not watch your family. That would be creepy for everyone, I imagine).
Living the same life, with kids a decade younger.

God bless you for having the Family Dinner. It's something I insist on as well.

I'm not sure what's up with my hormones, but this made me tear up for some reason.

I guess because it's so beautifully American (and I happen to be finishing "The Partly Cloudy Patriot" at the moment...

Sigh.

Ach - the bb post of the year and I am offline.

And now it has vanished. Just off to weep silently in a corner.
