page 123 meme

Ingrid has tagged me for a book meme.

The rules:
  1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
  2. Open the book to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the next three sentences.
  5. Tag five people.
The nearest book is The Principles of Uncertainty, by my idol, Maira Kalman.
Page 123 has only two sentences:

The Henry VIII And His Six Wives Fine Mint Chocolate Collection is a festive package that happens to commemorate bloody murder and misogyny with every bite. Hmm.

It is well known how much Goethe loved candy. Not the giddy colorful Chuckles or the psychedelic whirley pop but serious German chocolate truffles.

Don't you want me to go on?
The illustrations are extraordinary.

Maira Kalman

As is the author.

That hat she is wearing reminds me I must wrap the book on napkin folding my sons got my wife for St. Valentine's Day.

That is fantastically funny. It makes me happy.

She looks extraordinary. They had Chuckles during Goethe's lifetime?

I like her cute dog.

You know I love her.

And thank you again for the recommendation.

Everytime I go into a bookstore I think 'now what's the name of that awesome book Blackbird keeps talking about' (I think you mentioned it once in a post-Christmas post, but the illustrations or the cover you showed has stuck in my brain)

We have a dog which looks like that. It is so stupid.

Joke, if someone bought me a book on napkin folding I'd... oh, nevermind.

I love that book. I got it from the library, read it, returned it, and bought my own copy.

Hmm; I'm off to take a look at that book.

Used to work downstairs from Maira. Have loved her work since the days of The Talking Heads covers and the MOST fabulous Max books. Love the dog.

I can just look at her and tell we would be friends. I see attitude.
